As a result, Robbie Earle’s contract with ITV has been terminated with immediate effect.”

A spokesman for his agent said there was no comment at this stage, although it is thought that, after finally coming to terms with his analytical limitations, Earle may have merely taken the selfless option and sacrificied himself for the greater good.

Liverpool have launched an exciting new community initiative that will provide employment opportunities for local youngsters and showcase the best of what the city has to offer.

Created as a partnership between Liverpool Football Club and Liverpool City Council's Youth Ambassadors scheme, the project has given 25 youngsters aged 16-19 part-time work with the club after a selection process.

The Youth Ambassadors' main task will be to serve as representatives of the city and greet travelling fans upon their arrivals in Liverpool on matchdays.

They will be at Lime Street train station and the waterfront ferry terminal and will be distributing brochures with information on some of the sights to take in across the city and details of where fans can grab a bite to eat.

In return, the youths will receive a level one qualification with the LFC Foundation, and thus bolster their future employment prospects.

A profile of the Youth Ambassadors scheme will be shown on the Match of the Day repeat on the BBC on Sunday morning (7.45am-9am) as the Community feature.

Liverpool's Scottish international midfielder Charlie Adam was present at the launch of the initiative this week and he believes the scheme is an excellent idea.

It's a fantastic thing for the club to be involved in and a great opportunity for the youngsters, said Adam.

When you get an opportunity, you have to take it and hopefully they'll get something from it - if they work hard, you never know where it could take them.
